Analysis

On July 29, 2000, approximately 1000 mountain daylight time, a Mooney M20E, N5775Q, was substantially damaged following a wheels up landing at Fremont County Airport, Canon City, Colorado. The private pilot, the sole occupant aboard the airplane, was not injured. The airplane was being operated by the pilot under Title 14 CFR Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the local flight that originated approximately 1 hour before the accident. No flight plan had been filed.

The pilot said that while performing a touch and go landing, she forgot to put the landing gear down. Three fuselage formers were abraded and required replacement.
