Analysis

On May 18, 2004, at 1700 eastern daylight time, a Stinson SR-8E, N16181, registered to Delta Air Transport Heritage Museum Inc., operating as a 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight, collided with the ground during landing rollout at Peachtree City Airport, Peachtree City, Georgia. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed. The airplane received substantial damage. The airline transport pilot and two passengers reported no injuries. The flight originated from Peachtree City on May 18, 2004, at 1650.

The pilot stated he departed Peachtree City Airport on runway 13 and remained in right closed traffic. According to the pilot, the airplane touched down and was on landing rollout when he lost directional control. The airplane ground looped to the left and the left elevator collided with the ground and received structural damage. When asked if the airplane experienced any mechanical failures prior to the loss of control, the pilot stated no.
