Analysis

On May 28, 2005, about 0945 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 172, N416FR, registered to and operated by Beaver Aviation South, Inc., as a Title 14 CFR 91 personal flight, had a hard landing, at Page Field, Fort Myers, Florida. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed. The private-rated pilot was not injured, and the airplane incurred substantial damage. The flight originated at Ft. Myers, to same day, about 0940.

The pilot stated that she was in the airport traffic pattern performing touch-and-go landings, and one of the landings was a hard landing. She said, after her touch-and-goes, she secured the airplane, and but was not aware of the damage that had occurred with the firewall, until she was told the so by maintenance personnel. According to the pilot, prior to the accident, there were no mechanical failures are malfunctions in the airplane for any of its systems.
