Analysis
On June 26, 2005, at 1645 central daylight time, a Piper PA-28-140, operated by Willmar Air Service Inc., as a rental airplane, received substantial damage on impact with terrain following a hard landing on runway 18 (3,562 feet by 250 feet, turf) at Willmar Municipal Airport-John L Rice Field (KILL), Willmar, Minnesota. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight was not operating on a flight plan. The pilot and three passengers reported no injuries. The local flight originated from KILL at 1545.
The airplane was reported by the Federal Aviation Administration to have veered off runway 18 into a soybean field.
