Analysis

On August 11, 2005, at 1000 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 172S, N632FA, operated by Benz Aviation LLC, as a rental/instructional airplane, received substantial damage on impact with terrain during a hard landing on runway 02 (3,800 feet by 60 feet, asphalt) at Ottawa Executive Airport (Z98), Zeeland, Michigan. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The 14 CFR Part 91 student solo instructional flight was not operating on a flight plan. The student pilot received no injuries. The local flight originated from Z98 at 0930.

The pilot stated that the airplane bounced after she did not flare "enough."
