Analysis

On October 26, 2005, about 0800 eastern daylight time, a passenger sustained serious injuries while exiting a Bombardier CL-600-2C10, N391CA, at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), Covington, Kentucky. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The flight was being operated by Comair, Inc., as a scheduled revenue flight under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 121. The remaining 4 flight crew members and 20 passengers were not injured. Flight 5521 departed Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), Sarasota, Florida, at 0540, and had landed uneventfully at CVG.

The passenger fell while exiting the aircraft using the door-stair during normal deplaning. The passenger reportedly fractured his cheek bone, sinus cavity, eye cavity, and shoulder.
