Analysis

On November 14, 2009 about 1025 UTC, ZU-BEX, English Electric Lightning MK T5, crashed after the pilot reported he had experienced hydraulic failure while conducting aerobatic manuevers during an airshow near Bredasdorp, South Africa. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The pilot, the sole occupant, was fatally injured. The airplane was destroyed. There was fire. The local flight originated at Overburg Air Force Base, South Africa.The investigation is being conducted by the South African Civil Aviation Authority.
