Analysis

On August 8, 2010, a Piper PA-28-180, TI-AGR, was substantially damaged following an in-flight fire during a departure from the Tobias Bolaños Palma International Airport (MRPV), Favorita Norte, Pavas, Costa Rica. The pilot, the sole occupant was not injured.

According to initial statements provided by the investigative agency, the pilot was on departure when the engine experienced a partial loss of engine power followed by smoke in the cabin. Upon landing at MRPV, a fire was detected in the engine compartment.
