On December 29, 2011, about 1415 universal coordinated time, a Piper PA28-161, Columbian registration HK3934, was substantially damaged when it impacted terrain while in cruise flight near Andres Bello, Tachira, Venezuela. The two pilots were fatally injured. The intended visual flight rules instructional flight departed Arauca, Columbia (SKUC), and was destined for Cucuta, Colombia (SKCC).
