Analysis
On May 19, 2012, at approximately 0819 locat time, a Boeing 737-500 operated by AirBaltic was climbing after departure from Riga International Airport, and was cleared by ATC to climb to FL230. At the same time, an Airbus 320, operated by Aeroflot perfromed a go-around due to unstabilized approach. During the go around, the minimum separation between the two aircraft was 2.2 NM.The incident is being investigated by the Transport Accident & Incident Investigation Bureau of LATVIA. The NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative as the state of manufacture of the aircraft under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13.
