Analysis
On December 8, 2013, at 1607 coordinated universal time, a Pitts S-2B airplane, F-GEAL, experienced a loss of engine power and conducted a force landing near Meaux-Esbly, France. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The airplane was substantially damaged.Information obtained by the investigators revealed the crankshaft of the Lycoming AEIO540-D4D5 was fractured.
