Analysis

On March 20, 2015, about 1805 coordinated universal time, a Cessna TU206G, Colombian registration HK-2327, was substantially damaged while ditching into the Vaupés River near the Fabio Alberto León Bentley Airport (SKMU), Mitú, Columbia. The pilot and a passenger sustained minor injuries and two passengers were fatally injured. The flight, which had departed from SKMU, was destined for San José Cananarí Airport (9AK), Colombia, and was conducted under Colombian flight regulations.

According to preliminary information from the Government of Colombia, the flight departed from runway 20. About three minutes after departing, the airplane's engine lost power. The pilot attempted to return to the airport, but was unable, and subsequently performed a landing to the Vaupés River.
