On January 5, 2017, at 1420 universal time coordinated, a Cessna 172S airplane, Brazilian registration PR-GRS, sustained substantial damage when it struck high-tension power-lines while attempting to land at the Tangara da Serra Airport (TGQ), State of Mato Grasso, Brazil. The pilot and a passenger were fatally injured and two passengers were seriously injured. The personal flight originated at the Adalberto Mendes da Silva Airport (CAC), Cascavel, Brazil.
