Summary

On June 14, 2017, about 1600 universal coordinated time (UTC), a Turbo Thrush AG S2R, 4X-AQS made an off-airport landing following an engine shutdown during flight at Megiddo Airport, Megiddo, Israel. The pilot was operating the airplane under the provisions of the Israel Civil Aviation Regulations as a local agricultural aerial application flight. The pilot was not injured; the airplane was not damaged.Preliminary information received from the government of Israel indicated that the pilot detected an issue with the engine, shut if off during flight, and landed in a field. Examination of the engine revealed metal chips in the oil filter and chip detector of the PT6-34AG engine.

Analysis
