The Antonov An-148 was Ukraine's ambitious entry into the modern regional jet market, designed to compete with Western aircraft on short- to medium-haul routes. First flown on December 17, 2004, it was a high-wing twin-engine turbofan that could seat 68 to 85 passengers with a maximum range of 2,100 kilometers. Measuring 35.5 meters in length with a 28.9-meter wingspan, the An-148 was manufactured by Antonov in partnership with Russia's Voronezh Aircraft Production Association.
