United States Air Force Fleet

The V-22 Osprey, the world's first successful military tiltrotor aircraft to enter production, revolutionized military aviation by combining helicopter vertical takeoff capability with fixed-wing aircraft speed and range. First flown on March 19, 1989, it is a twin-engine tiltrotor that can carry 24 combat troops or 20,000 pounds of cargo. The aircraft measures over 57 feet in length with a 84-foot wingspan when wings are extended. Manufactured by Bell-Boeing as a joint venture between Bell Helicopter and Boeing.
