The Boeing 707-300, part of the revolutionary aircraft family that launched the commercial jet age, transformed global air travel beginning in the late 1950s. First flown as the 707 prototype on December 20, 1957, it was a low-wing, four-engine jet airliner capable of carrying up to 200 passengers at speeds approaching 600 miles per hour. Spanning over 130 feet in wingspan with powerful turbojet engines, the aircraft established transcontinental and transatlantic routes that made long-distance travel accessible to ordinary travelers. The Boeing Company manufactured this groundbreaking airliner as part of the 707 family that remained in production until 1991.
