The CERVA CE-43 Guépard was France's ambitious attempt to create a modern touring aircraft that could compete with American designs like the Beechcraft Bonanza in the 1970s international market. First flown on May 18, 1971, it was a low-wing single-engine monoplane that could seat up to six occupants with a Lycoming IO-540 engine producing 250 horsepower. The all-metal aircraft achieved a maximum speed of 199 mph and an exceptional seven-hour endurance capability. Production was handled by CERVA, a joint venture between Wassmer and Siren SA, from 1973 to 1976.
