
The Alpha Jet, a pioneering Franco-German advanced trainer and light attack aircraft that demonstrated successful international aerospace cooperation during the Cold War era, first flew on October 26, 1973. A low-wing twin-engine jet capable of training missions and light attack roles, it featured two Larzac turbofan engines and accommodated two crew members. With a production run spanning 1977 to 1985, 512 aircraft were manufactured through the joint venture between Dassault Aviation of France and Dornier Flugzeugwerke of Germany.
