The Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche was a sleek light twin-engine aircraft that replaced Piper's bulbous-nosed Apache with superior performance and modern styling. First flown in 1963, it was a low-wing, all-metal aircraft powered by two 160-horsepower Lycoming IO-320 engines and seated four passengers plus pilot. With a top speed of 205 mph and a range of 948 miles, it became one of general aviation's most successful light twins. Piper Aircraft Corporation manufactured approximately 2,150 units at its Lock Haven, Pennsylvania facility before production ended in 1972.
