The Great Lakes 2T-1 Sport Trainer stands as America's oldest continuously certificated aircraft design still in production, defining the classic aerobatic biplane for nearly a century. First flown in March 1929, it was a single-bay biplane with tandem open cockpits that could accommodate two occupants for sport and aerobatic training. Measuring just over 20 feet in length with fabric-covered wings, the aircraft established a world record for 131 consecutive outside loops in 1929. Originally manufactured by the Great Lakes Aircraft Corporation of Cleveland, Ohio, the design has survived multiple production revivals spanning nine decades.
