The British Aerospace Jetstream Super 31, an enhanced 19-passenger regional turboprop, represented the successful revival of a failed 1960s airliner design. First flown in 1988, it was a low-wing twin-engine aircraft powered by reliable Honeywell TPE331-10 turboprops generating 1,020 shaft horsepower each. Measuring 47 feet in length with a 52-foot wingspan, the Super 31 could operate from short airfields with a maximum takeoff weight of 14,500 pounds. British Aerospace produced 386 aircraft in the entire Jetstream 31/32 series through 1993.
