The Mitsubishi MU-2, Japan's first postwar aircraft design and most successful turboprop transport, marked the nation's re-entry into commercial aviation after World War II. First flown on September 14, 1963, it was a high-wing twin-turboprop utility transport that could accommodate up to 11 passengers. With a length of 39 feet 5 inches and powered by Garrett TPE331 engines, the aircraft achieved a top speed of 300 mph at 20,000 feet. The MU-2 was manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
