The Hawker Siddeley HS-748 Andover was a twin-turboprop regional airliner and military transport that successfully bridged the gap between smaller aircraft and four-engine airliners in the emerging regional aviation market. First flown on June 24, 1960, it was a low-wing monoplane powered by two Rolls-Royce Dart turboprops, seating up to 48 passengers or carrying military cargo loads of 14,365 pounds. Measuring 78 feet in length with a 98-foot wingspan, the aircraft achieved remarkable longevity with production continuing until 1989. The type was manufactured by Hawker Siddeley Aircraft at Woodford, England, and under license by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in India.
