The Cessna 525B Citation CJ3 served as a pivotal light business jet that bridged the gap between smaller corporate aircraft and larger cabin jets during its eleven-year production run. First flown on April 17, 2003, it was a twin-engine turbofan aircraft that seated up to six passengers in a stretched fuselage design. With a range of 1,875 nautical miles and cruising speed of 417 knots, the CJ3 offered significantly improved performance over its CJ2 predecessor. Manufactured by Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas, it represented the third generation of the successful CitationJet family.
