The de Havilland DH-104 Dove was Britain's first successful post-war short-haul airliner, marking the transition from biplane transports to modern all-metal commercial aviation. First flown in 1945, it was a low-wing twin-engine monoplane powered by Gipsy Queen inline engines that could carry 6 to 11 passengers in its semi-monocoque fuselage. Spanning over 57 feet in wingspan with a length of approximately 39 feet, the Dove featured innovative reversible-pitch propellers for enhanced short-field performance. The de Havilland Aircraft Company manufactured 544 examples between 1945 and 1967.
