
The AgustaWestland AW101, originally designated EH101, stands as the world's first successful tri-engine medium-lift helicopter, revolutionizing naval aviation and search-and-rescue operations. First flown in 1987, it is a three-engine turboshaft helicopter capable of carrying 30 troops or 45 passengers in civilian configuration. With a main rotor diameter of 61 feet and powered by three Rolls-Royce Turbomeca RTM322 engines producing 2,100 horsepower each, the aircraft achieves speeds of 186 mph. Developed by EH Industries Limited, a joint venture between Westland Helicopters and Agusta, now part of Leonardo S.p.A.
