The AS-532A2 Cougar Mk2, a twin-engine military transport and combat search and rescue helicopter that became a cornerstone of European rotorcraft operations in the 1990s. First flown as the AS332 Super Puma prototype in 1978, it was a medium-lift helicopter powered by two Turbomeca Makila turboshaft engines capable of transporting 28 fully armed troops or conducting extended rescue missions. With a maximum takeoff weight of 9,000 kilograms and a range of 573 kilometers, it was manufactured by Aerospatiale and later Eurocopter.
