The T-28 Trojan served as America's primary advanced military trainer during the jet age transition, bridging piston-engine training aircraft with modern high-performance fighters. First flown on September 24, 1949, it was a low-wing single-engine monoplane powered by a Wright radial engine and accommodating two crew members in tandem seating. With a wingspan of 40 feet 7 inches and tricycle landing gear that mimicked jet aircraft characteristics, the Trojan prepared pilots for contemporary military aviation. North American Aviation manufactured 1,948 aircraft between 1950 and 1957.
