The SA-330 Puma, Europe's most successful medium transport helicopter of the 1970s, revolutionized military and civilian rotorcraft operations with its all-weather capability and versatile mission profile. First flown on April 15, 1965, it was a twin-turboshaft helicopter that could carry 16 troops or 2,500 kilograms of cargo. With a four-blade main rotor spanning 15 meters and powered by Turbomeca Turmo engines, it was manufactured by Aérospatiale until 1987.
