The Short 360, a high-wing twin-turboprop regional airliner, served as a crucial link in the expansion of commuter aviation following US airline deregulation in the 1980s. First flown on June 1, 1981, it was a stretched development of the Short 330 that could accommodate 36 passengers in standard configuration or up to 39 in high-density seating. Measuring 70.6 feet in length with twin Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A turboprop engines, the aircraft offered regional carriers increased capacity over its predecessor. Short Brothers of Northern Ireland manufactured 165 aircraft between 1981 and 1991.
