The Short 330, a rugged twin-turboprop regional airliner designed to exploit US commuter airline regulations, served as the workhorse for small carriers throughout the late 1970s and 1980s. First flown on August 22, 1974, it was a high-wing twin-engine aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-45R turboprops that could seat 30 passengers or carry equivalent cargo loads. With its distinctive boxy fuselage measuring 58 feet in length and 43-foot wingspan, the aircraft offered exceptional short-field performance and loading versatility. Built by Short Brothers in Belfast, Northern Ireland, 141 examples were manufactured between 1974 and 1992.
