The Glasair series revolutionized amateur aircraft construction as the world's first successful pre-molded composite kit aircraft, making high-performance homebuilding accessible to amateur constructors. First flown in 1979, it was a low-wing twin-seat monoplane that could achieve cruise speeds exceeding 300 mph in turbocharged variants. Measuring approximately 18 feet in length with a 24-foot wingspan, more than 2,500 kits were produced by Stoddard-Hamilton Aircraft across three major variants before the company's bankruptcy in 2001.
