The IAI 1125 Astra was a pioneering mid-size business jet that established Israel Aerospace Industries as a major force in executive aviation. First flown on March 19, 1984, it was a low-wing twin-turbofan aircraft seating eight passengers in typical configuration. With a cabin measuring 17.1 feet long and powered by twin Garrett TFE731 engines, the Astra represented a complete redesign from IAI's earlier Westwind series. Produced from 1986 to 2005, approximately 145 aircraft were built across all variants by Israel Aerospace Industries and later Gulfstream Aerospace.
