The Antonov An-3, one of the few turbine-powered biplanes ever produced, represented a significant modernization effort of the proven An-2 design. First flown on May 13, 1980, it was a high-wing biplane powered by a single TVD-20 turboprop engine producing 1,375 shaft horsepower, capable of carrying 1,800 kilograms of cargo or passengers. With an upper wingspan of 18.18 meters and maximum speed of 255 kilometers per hour, only 25 aircraft were manufactured by the Antonov Design Bureau.
