The Lancair Legacy, a revolutionary high-performance homebuilt aircraft, transformed the experimental aviation landscape by delivering airliner-like speeds to private pilots. First flown in the early 2000s as the culmination of Lance Neibauer's developmental work that began in 1984, it was a low-wing composite monoplane seating two occupants side-by-side. Powered by a 310-horsepower Continental IO-550-N engine, the Legacy achieved cruise speeds of 276 mph with a range exceeding 1,150 nautical miles. The aircraft was manufactured as a kit by Lancair International.
