The MXR MX-2 is a high-performance aerobatic aircraft that set new standards for carbon-fiber construction and unlimited aerobatic capability in the early 2000s. First flown in 2002, it is a low-wing tandem two-seat monoplane powered by a 340-horsepower Lycoming AEIO-540 engine. With its all-carbon-fiber construction weighing just 1,287 pounds empty and capable of 420-degree-per-second roll rates with ±14G limits, the MX-2 became a dominant force in competitive aerobatics and air racing. Originally developed by MXR Technologies Inc. of Florida, production later shifted to MX Aircraft in Perth, Australia.
