On May 8, 1994, at 0820 mountain standard time, a Cessna 152, N4594B, collided with an airport information sign during the landing ground roll at Chandler, Arizona. The aircraft was operated by Venture Aviation, Inc., of Chandler, Arizona, and was on a student solo instructional flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed. The aircraft sustained substantial damage. The student pilot, the sole occupant, was not injured. The flight originated from the Chandler, Arizona, airport about 0814 on the day of the mishap for a local area solo instructional flight.

In his written statement, the student pilot said he was on his first supervised solo. The pilot said he completed one touch and go. On the second one, the pilot reported that he lost control of the aircraft at touchdown, veered to the left, and collided with a runway information sign.

The management official reported that the student pilot had about 18 total flight hours, all of which were dual instruction. On the morning of the mishap, the student completed a phase check with another company flight instructor.

The pilot reported that there was no mechanical malfunction of the aircraft or any system.
