Analysis

On June 21, 1994, at 1300 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna 150L, N19297, collided with a fence after the pilot aborted the go around at the Lendhardt Airpark, Hubbard, Oregon, during the local instructional flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed. The airplane was substantially damaged and the flight instructor and student pilot were not injured.

The flight instructor reported that the student was practicing short field landings. During the landing approach with 40 degrees of flaps extended, the airplane was approximately half way down the runway when the instructor took over to go around. The flight instructor pushed in full power and retracted the flaps. The flight instructor stated that when he retracted the flaps they did not respond. The airplane was not climbing sufficiently to clear trees and the instructor aborted the go around. The airplane touched down near the end of the runway and travelled into a fence before coming to a stop.

During the on site inspection by a Federal Aviation Administration Inspector from the Hillsboro, Oregon, Flight Standards District Office, the inspector reported that the electrical flap system was tested several times and was found to operate within normal parameters.

To this date, the owner/operator has not returned the NTSB Pilot/Operator Aircraft Accident Report form.
