On August 19, 1994, about 1900 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 152, N757WM, registered to Gulf Leasing, Inc., ran off the runway and collided with terrain while landing at Arcadia Municipal Airport, Arcadia, Florida, while on a 14 CFR Part 91 instructional flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and a visual flight rules flight plan was filed. The aircraft received substantial damage and the student pilot was not injured. The flight originated at Bartow, Florida, on August 19, 1994, about 1830.

The student pilot stated that he was performing a solo cross-country flight from Punta Gorda, Florida, to St. Augustine, Florida and return. In the area of Bartow, Florida, he encountered weather and landed at Bartow. He waited about 2 hours at Bartow for thunderstorms to clear for a return flight to Punta Gorda. He departed Bartow, encountered thunderstorms enroute, and diverted to Arcadia, Florida, to wait for the weather to clear. While landing at Arcadia he encountered gusting winds and ran off the left side of the runway where he collided with a drainage ditch.
