Analysis

On August 19, 1995, at 1600 central daylight time (CDT), a Stinson 108-3, N6911M, was substantially damaged while landing at Tribune Municipal Airport, Tribune, Kansas. The pilot reported no injuries. The local 14 CFR Part 91 flight originated from a private airstrip in Tribune, Kansas, at 1545 CDT. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident and no flight plan was filed.

In a written statement, the pilot reported that after practicing several takeoffs and landings at his private grass strip, he flew to Tribune Municipal Airport to practice several more on an asphalt runway. The pilot stated that during his first landing at Tribune, the airplane pulled to the right after touchdown. "I applied excessive left brake, causing the tailwheel aircraft to nose over," the pilot stated.
