Analysis

On August 9, 1995, about 1530 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 170B, N2715D, experienced a loss of control during the landing roll at the Arthur Dunn Air Park, Titusville, Florida. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed for the 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight. The airplane was substantially damaged and the commercial-rated pilot, the sole occupant, was not injured. The flight originated about 1510 from the Arthur Dunn Air Park, Titusville, Florida.

The flight was the pilot's second solo in a conventional type airplane. After departure the pilot performed three landings and after touchdown for the 4th during the landing roll, the airplane veered off the right side of the runway. The pilot applied left brake and rudder and momentarily applied power but with obstructions ahead, reduced power to idle. The airplane then collided with a taxiway sign then nosed over.
