Analysis

On December 6, 1998, at 1030 central standard time, a Cessna 150, N63563, operated by a student pilot collided with the terrain following a loss of directional control while landing on runway 26 (3,900' x 75') at the East Troy Municipal Airport, East Troy, Wisconsin. The pilot was not injured. The airplane sustained substantial damage. The 14 CFR Part 91 solo instructional flight was being operated in visual meteorological conditions without a flight plan. The local flight originated at East Troy at 1000 cst.

The pilot reported that she was practicing touch and go landings when the accident occurred. She reported that after touching down, she added power to takeoff when the "...wind caught the wing and pushed me sideways... ." The airplane traveled off the right side of the runway into the grass where it contacted a ditch and nosed over. The student pilot had a total of 17.9 hours of flight time. The student reported that local winds were from 330 degrees at 5 knots gusting to 12 knots.
