Summary

On February 19, 2010, a Bell 206 (YV2191) was involved in an accident near Carayaca, VE. The accident resulted in 4 fatal injuries. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.

On February 19, 2010, about 1950 Universal Coordinated Time, a Bell 206B helicopter, Venezuelan registration YV2191, operated by Aeromedic 2005, was lost from contact with Maiquetia approach control. The helicopter departed from Generalisimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base (SVFM), Caracas, Venezuela. The flight was destined for Yaure Airport (SVYA) near the town of Yaracal, in the state of Falcon, Venezuela. Subsequent to the loss of contact by approach control, law enforcement authorities located the wreckage in a mountainous area approximately 11 miles west-southwest of SVFM, near the town of Carayaca, in the state of Vargas, Venezuela. The pilot and all three passengers were fatally injured.

This investigation is under jurisdiction of the Government of Venezuela.
