On March 4, 2011, about 1000 eastern standard time, a Cessna 152, Jamaican registration 6Y-JGA, was substantially damaged during a forced landing, following a total loss of engine power during initial climb from Norman Manley International Airport (MKJP), Kingston, Jamaica. The pilot and one passenger incurred minor injuries and the airplane sustained substantial damage.
According to information obtained from an official with the Government of Jamaica, during initial climb from runway 12, the airplane experienced a total loss of engine power. The pilot attempted to land on the remaining runway; however, the airplane traveled off the end of the runway and through a perimeter fence. The airplane sustained damage to the nosegear, engine compartment, propeller, and right wing tip.
