On June 13, 2017, about 1810 local time, a Republic of Korea registered Bell 214B helicopter, HL9157, operated by UB Air, impacted remote mountainous terrain about 3 miles northeast of Dongducheon, Republic of Korea, during the approach to a drop zone while conducting an external load operation. The helicopter sustained substantial damage and the 2 pilots received serious injuries.
The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board, Republic of Korea. As the state of manufacture of the helicopter and the engine, the National Transportation Safety Board has designated a US accredited representative to assist the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board.
