On August 2, 2017, at 1551 universal coordinated time, a Cessna 152, CS-AVA, experienced a loss of engine power during cruise flight. A forced landing was performed on a beach near Praia de São João da Caparica, Portugal. During the landing, the airplane struck two people on the beach. The airplane sustained substantial damage. The flight instructor and a student pilot were uninjured, and the two people on the ground were fatally injured. The instructional flight departed from Cascais Municipal Aerodrome (LPCS), Tires, São Domingos de Rana, and was destined to Évora Airport (LPEV), Évora.
