The Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk is the modernized production standard of the U.S. Army's primary medium-lift utility helicopter. Manufactured by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, this twin-engine, four-bladed aircraft is distinguished by its integrated digital cockpit and enhanced structural performance.

The UH-60M Black Hawk is the current production variant of the Sikorsky UH-60 family, serving as the primary medium-lift utility helicopter for the United States Army and various export customers. The aircraft is part of the broader S-70 lineage, which was originally developed to satisfy the Utility Tactical Transport Aircraft System (UTTAS) requirement established around 1972. While the family prototype, the YUH-60A, first flew on October 17, 1974, piloted by John Dixson and James R. ("Dick") Wright, the modernized UH-60M variant reached a major milestone with its first production delivery to the U.S. Army on July 31, 2006.

Designed to improve upon the earlier A and L models, the UH-60M features a significant redesign including new structures and systems that provide increased range and lift. A defining characteristic of the "Mike" model is its integrated digital cockpit and digital connectivity, replacing the analog systems of its predecessors. These upgrades, combined with improved flying qualities and enhanced maintainability, ensure the platform remains technologically competitive. The aircraft is powered by two gas-turbine turboshaft engines and utilizes a four-bladed main rotor and a four-bladed tail rotor.

Production is centered at Sikorsky facilities in Stratford, Connecticut. While the exact number of UH-60M units produced is not publicly specified, the total H-60 family production exceeded 5,000 aircraft for 36 nations by January 2023. The manufacturer, Sikorsky Aircraft, was acquired by Lockheed Martin in 2015.

In operational service, the Black Hawk family has supported every major U.S. contingency operation since the 1980s, including conflicts in Grenada, Panama, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, and the Balkans. The UH-60M specifically operates in these theaters in roles ranging from tactical air assault and utility transport to medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) and special operations support. Beyond military use, Lockheed Martin offers a commercially available version of the UH-60M airframe for governmental and agency missions. The legacy of the platform is evidenced by its massive fleet hours, with the U.S. Army maintaining over 2,100 H-60 aircraft in its inventory as of the late 2010s.
